How do you start homeschooling?
So how do I homeschool with Joyschool resources?
COVID has changed the face of education rapidly, and all over the world. In many places where homeschooling was a rarity, now is seems like everyone is educating at home! Your choice to use JOYschool resources is as easy as purchasing a membership to JOYschool. Soon after, you will receive your own passcode and login, and you can access teenage homeschooling resources including ready-made assignments, essays and research projects for your homeschooling.
Why have you changed your name?
In 2021 we are changing from Teen Homeschooling Australia to JOYschool Homeschool. There are a few reasons for this:
1. So many of our families are not in Australia. We want to reflect this and invite in our international friends. JOYschool resources can be used anywhere in the world, and are relevant to preparing every teenager for higher education or university entry. They are written by university educators and are purposefully made to feel simple and fun. If you speak English or are developing English proficiency then JOYschool can be used in your homeschool.
2. In the face of rapid change, mental health is one of our top priorities. Fun, joy and gratitude are essential for a healthy mind and body, so we are changing our resources to highlight this. We are including; family and community focused projects (to encourage our teens to talk to each other, their families and others), affirmations, positive quotes and bright graphics.
3. We have engaged graphic designers to make our resources bold, bright and fun to use. Research tells us that our brain is much more likely to absorb and retain information if we find it interesting. So all of our resources are getting a huge make-over.

How do I use the new JOYschool membership in 2021?
The first few weeks of your membership will be different to last year as we do a slow-release of core projects to help ease your teen in to homeschooling for the year, and also to build skills that they will use later in the year. You will have access to the starting projects, and then more will be added from February until December.
How about Primary School age?
With COVID, there have been a lot of changes in the world, and one big one is that we have found there are many maths, art, and primary age programs available for free, or very low cost, internationally, to make homeschooling more accessible to more people. For us, this means that we are focusing on high school only, in 2021, and more specifically, on high school projects, research skills, debating, analysing, and skills that are a lot more difficult to develop at home, without a school curriculum. All of our high school programs are developed by qualified university educators, and if things change again in 2022, we will look at re-introducing primary.
Do teens enjoy it?
